Why We Must Spend Time in Nature to Remember Who We Are

In the rush of our modern lives, it’s easy to forget that we are nature. We are not separate from the trees, the rivers, the soil, or the wind. We are made from the same elements that form the mountains, oceans, and stars. Every heartbeat, every breath, every cell in your body is a reflection of the Earth’s own rhythms. When you walk into a forest or stand barefoot on the ground, you aren’t visiting nature, you are returning home.

Spending time in nature isn’t just relaxing. It’s essential. Nature restores balance, grounds our energy, and reminds us of what’s real. Mother Earth provides everything we need to live, heal, and thrive. She nourishes our bodies, clears our minds, and reawakens our connection to the divine intelligence that lives within all life.

When we honor the Earth, we honor ourselves. When we harm her, we harm our own bodies, spirits, and collective future. The way we treat nature mirrors how we treat our inner world. Healing our relationship with the planet begins with remembering that we were never separate from her to begin with. In my opinion, most people do not understand this concept, so I ask that you stop here and sit with this. We are Mother Earth, and Mother Earth is us. When we harm her, we harm ourselves.

We Are Made of Nature

Science and spirituality both affirm that we are composed of the same elements found throughout nature. The calcium in our bones once belonged to ancient seashells. The iron in our blood was born in the heart of stars. The air we breathe has been inhaled and exhaled by trees, whales, and every living creature since time began.

Our bodies are ecosystems, living, breathing expressions of the planet herself. The water that moves through our cells is the same water that flows through rivers and rains from clouds. The minerals in our bodies come from soil. The breath that fills our lungs is shared by the plants and trees that transform carbon dioxide into oxygen.

We are not visitors on Earth. We are extensions of Earth. To be disconnected from nature is to be disconnected from ourselves. This is one of the great imbalances of modern civilization: we have forgotten that our wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of the planet.

When we remember that we are made of nature, our perspective changes. We begin to treat our bodies with more reverence, our food with more gratitude, and our planet with more respect. We move from dominance to partnership, from consumption to communion.

Nature as a Living Teacher

Mother Earth is a sacred teacher, always communicating through patterns, seasons, and energy. She reminds us that everything in life is cyclical. There is time to grow, time to rest, time to bloom, and time to release.

The trees teach patience and groundedness. They remind us to root deeply before we rise. Rivers teach flow and adaptability, showing us how to move around obstacles rather than resisting them. The wind teaches freedom and movement. The mountains teach endurance, wisdom, and stillness.

Every element has its lesson. Fire burns away what no longer serves. Water cleanses and heals. Air refreshes and expands. Earth grounds and nourishes. Spirit infuses it all with purpose and meaning.

When you spend time in nature with awareness, you begin to receive these teachings. Your body relaxes. Your nervous system recalibrates. You begin to feel the pulse of life, the same rhythm that beats within your heart.

This is why nature has always been central to spiritual practice. Meditation, ceremony, prayer, and healing are all amplified when performed outdoors. The Earth amplifies intention and helps us align with the greater intelligence of creation.

How Nature Regulates and Heals the Human Energy Field

In my healing work, I see nature as one of the most powerful co-healers we have. Just like my spiritual healing offerings such as Biofield Tuning, Soul Illumination® quantum healing, and Light Lingo® activations, nature works directly with vibration and frequency.

When we spend time outside, our energy field begins to harmonize with the Earth’s electromagnetic resonance. This is often called the Schumann Resonance, the Earth’s natural frequency of around 7.83 hertz, which also happens to match the frequency of a calm human brain.

This resonance explains why we feel calmer, clearer, and more centered after walking in the woods or sitting by the ocean. The Earth literally recalibrates us. The stress and static from modern technology, artificial light, and constant stimulation begin to dissolve. Our nervous systems slow down and re-sync with natural rhythms.

Grounding, placing your bare feet on the Earth, allows electrons from the ground to flow into your body. This simple practice helps neutralize inflammation, balance the body’s electrical charge, and promote deep relaxation. When we reconnect physically with the soil, we also reconnect energetically with Source.

Nature heals us because she vibrates in coherence. The frequency of a forest, a waterfall, or a garden is pure, balanced, and restorative. When we spend time there, our energy begins to match hers.

Mother Earth Provides Everything We Need

Every resource necessary for human life comes from the Earth. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the materials that build our homes and anything else we have, all are gifts from nature. Mother Earth gives freely, constantly renewing herself to sustain the web of life.

Her wisdom is built into every living system. Plants convert sunlight into nourishment. Fungi recycle decay into new growth. The oceans regulate temperature and climate. Trees purify the air and anchor the soil.

Even our modern technologies are built from her gifts: metals mined from her crust, energy drawn from her elements, and innovation inspired by the patterns of life. Biomimicry, the science of designing based on nature’s genius, proves that every problem humanity faces has already been solved by the natural world.

When we slow down enough to listen, we realize that nature is always providing, guiding, and sustaining us. She asks for nothing more than respect, reciprocity, and gratitude in return. I ask that you start to become more aware of this. We cannot survive on this planet if there is no planet.

When We Harm Nature, We Harm Ourselves

Every act of environmental destruction, deforestation, pollution, overconsumption, extinction, is also an act of self-harm. Because we are part of nature, the wounds we inflict upon the planet are reflected within our collective body.

When the air is polluted, we breathe that pollution. When the oceans are filled with toxins, we consume them through the water and food chain. When the forests disappear, we lose the lungs of the planet and the energetic sanctuaries that hold balance for our collective consciousness.

The ecological crisis is not just environmental, it’s spiritual. It mirrors our inner disconnection from self, from each other, and from Source. Healing the Earth requires healing the consciousness that created the separation in the first place.

Each time we choose love over fear, compassion over convenience, and stewardship over exploitation, we participate in Earth’s healing. Conscious living, sustainable choices, and respect for all beings are spiritual practices that ripple far beyond the individual. Each one of us does have the choice and the power to create change.

Nature and the Soul: Remembering Our Belonging

The Earth remembers you, even when you forget her. When you step into nature, she greets you like an old friend. You may feel it as peace, gratitude, or a quiet joy that rises from within. That feeling is recognition, the soul remembering its home.

Spending time in nature reconnects us to our sacred worth™ and belonging. The ego relaxes. The mind quiets. We begin to feel held, supported, and loved in ways that words cannot describe.

Nature mirrors our inner journey of transformation. The changing seasons remind us that endings are not failures but necessary beginnings. The forest floor, rich with decay, teaches us that death feeds new life. Every sunrise is a reminder that light always returns after darkness.

When we attune to these cycles, we stop resisting change. We begin to live in harmony with life rather than fighting it. The soul thrives in that space of connection.

Practical Ways to Reconnect with Nature

You don’t need to live in the wilderness to connect with nature. She is everywhere, even in the city, waiting for you to notice her presence.

Try these simple ways to reconnect:
- Spend time outdoors every day. Even a few minutes of sunlight, fresh air, or contact with the earth shifts your energy.
- Walk barefoot on the ground. Grounding, or Earthing, restores electrical balance and helps you release excess energy.
- Breathe with the trees. Inhale deeply and imagine exchanging energy with the surrounding forest.
- Bring nature indoors. Plants, crystals, and natural materials carry the vibration of the earth into your space. Surround yourself with as many houseplants as you are able.
- Offer gratitude. Speak or think “thank you” to the sun, the soil, the rain, and the wind. Gratitude amplifies connection.
- Meditate in nature. Let the sounds of birds, waves, or wind guide your breath.
- Honor what you use. Bless your food, your water, your home, recognizing that each resource comes from the Earth’s generosity.

Small acts of awareness create profound shifts in consciousness. As you honor nature, she responds. You will begin to feel her presence supporting, healing, and communicating with you.

The Return to Balance

Spending time in nature isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity for the soul. It reconnects us with truth, presence, and harmony. It reawakens our empathy for all life and reminds us that the planet is not a resource to be used but a sacred being to be honored.

When we align with Mother Earth, we align with ourselves. When we care for her, she cares for us. The healing of humanity and the healing of the Earth are the same journey, two expressions of one consciousness seeking balance.

So step outside. Feel the sun on your skin. Listen to the wind in the trees. Place your hands on the ground and whisper, Thank you. You are not separate from the Earth. You are her child, her expression, her heartbeat. When you remember that, everything begins to heal. You heal and Mother Earth heals.
